What does a BREEAM Assessor do?
A BREEAM Assessor is the independent party that assesses whether a project meets the formal requirements of the chosen BREEAM scheme.
My role is to objectively review the submitted evidence, correctly record the assessment, and submit the dossier for quality control. I work independently from the project team: no conflicts of interest, but a clear and consistent assessment.
Which assessment route suits your project?
BREEAM In-Use Assessor
For existing buildings such as offices, logistics, retail and other operational assets.
- Independent assessment of your In-Use dossier
- Review of evidence and scheme requirements
- For BREEAM-NL In-Use and BREEAM International In-Use
BREEAM New Construction Assessor
For new construction and renovation projects in the design and execution phase.
- Independent assessment of design and execution
- Review of credits, evidence and scheme requirements
- For BREEAM-NL New Construction
Also need a GPR assessment? I am licensed as a GPR assessor and available for your projects.
What you can expect from my work as an Assessor
Fast and clear feedback
Assessments are handled efficiently, with clear communication about findings and next steps.
Independent & scheme-compliant
I assess objectively according to the formal requirements of the BREEAM scheme, without conflicts of interest or ambiguity about roles.
Practical understanding of project dynamics
Through experience on both sides of the table, I understand how experts and project teams work.
How the assessment process works
A structured, independent and transparent assessment that follows the official methodology and provides clarity at every phase.
1
Site visit / project review
During a site visit or project review, I check whether the situation on location matches the submitted evidence and the relevant scheme requirements.
2
Review of evidence
The documentation is assessed for completeness, consistency and conformity with the assessment criteria.
3
Validation and submission
The assessment is processed in the official assessment tool and submitted for quality control to the relevant scheme organization.

International BREEAM In-Use assessments
Do you work with real estate outside the Netherlands? Then I can also act as an Assessor within BREEAM International In-Use. I carry out the assessment independently and submit the dossier directly for quality control, so that your project meets the same formal standards as other international BREEAM projects.
Countries with their own national scheme operator — such as the UK, the US, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Norway — follow their own national BREEAM guidelines and fall outside the international route.
Experience with BREEAM assessments for various project types
Assessed within both BREEAM In-Use and BREEAM New Construction — for offices, hotels, logistics buildings and other functions.

Frequently asked questions about the BREEAM assessment
No. As an Assessor, I review your evidence independently according to the BREEAM methodology. The final score depends entirely on the submitted evidence and what the scheme organization approves during the quality control.
Not in the Netherlands — BREEAM-NL requires that the Expert and Assessor are independent of each other, so I fulfill one role per project. With BREEAM International, both roles can rest with me, which keeps communication lines short and interpretation consistent.
Assessing a submitted dossier usually takes about 3 to 5 working days. After that, the scheme organization carries out its own quality control, which may lead to comments or adjustments. I discuss the full process and the planning in advance.
Once the scheme organization approves the assessment, it issues the official certificate. I receive it and hand it over to you. The score follows entirely from the submitted evidence and what is approved during the quality control.
Yes, as an Assessor within BREEAM International In-Use. Countries with their own national scheme — such as the UK, the US, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Norway — are handled under their own guidelines and fall outside the international route.
That depends on the scheme, the size and the complexity of the project. Feel free to request a quote with no obligation, including a brief description of your building, and you'll quickly receive a suitable proposal.
